In 1994 after searching for 12 months Anneke and David found their dream property.
A small advertisement in The Weekly Times…
Blampied, 45 acres, undulating cattle grazing country, scattered gumtrees, 2 dams, hayshed and cattle yard.
They instantly fell in love with the place and 3 days later became the proud new owners. With 3 young children in tow, they would spend weekends pulling down old fences, clearing fallen trees, burning stumps and planting trees to prepare for their new lifestyle.
Eventually a purpose-built garage became their temporary home while David established his new business servicing the district in the potato growing industry.
Their daughters love of horses slowly led to setting up equestrian facilities.
Finally, 6 years later they build their home just as the children finished their schooling and left home to start their own adventures.
Due to injury Anneke made the decision to retire from midwifery which opened the door for a new career.
As she now had empty bedrooms, she started a bed and breakfast renting out the upstairs rooms of the main house.
Her love of all animals and fond childhood memories of spending time on her friend's farm in Holland gave her inspiration to establish her new business venture. The garage was converted into what is now the family cottage and the farm stay was created.
Her experience working in health gave her the inspiration for the retreat as she was aware of the need for people to find a place to relax and unwind.
Anneke and David are both proud of what they have created together and love meeting all of the wonderful guests they get to share this amazing property with.
Anneke and David's three children Renee, Marcus and Simone are also involved in the property bringing their own individual skills to the team.
Renee has extensive experience in hospitality and event management. She has also worked for many years as a professional dressage rider and coach. Renee has recently joined the team as event and marketing manager. She is also working with Simone in developing our new retreats.
Marcus has extensive experience in all aspects of farming and ground maintenance. Marcus grows a selection of seasonal fresh vegetables on the property. He is also responsible for all the tractor driving and maintaining the popular fire pit.
Simone has a great interest in womans healing and health. She has recently become a relaxation massage therapist offering massage and meditation. Simone is also working with Renee on developing our new retreats.
